About Paper Loop
Paper Loop is an offline territory game in which the player guides a snake-like character across a grid to claim space. Moving out from existing territory leaves a vulnerable trail; returning to close a loop captures the enclosed area. The player can also eliminate opponents by crossing their trails, while avoiding having their own trail cut. The goal is to expand territory while managing the risk of being caught outside it. Movement is grid-based, with the character stepping in four directions. The trail is drawn as a folded ribbon, and the game includes visual effects when a character is eliminated and a live minimap to show the arena. Opponents can be controlled by bots. One bot uses a small reinforcement-learning network trained through self-play and runs on the device; a simpler scripted opponent is also available. As a result, the game can be played without a network connection. The presentation includes light and dark themes, and the player’s color changes between games. A local high score records progress. The game is described as playable offline and does not require an account. Its straightforward loop—leave safe territory, draw a route, and close the route before an opponent reaches the trail—makes it suited to short strategy sessions against computer-controlled rivals. The grid gives the movement clear right-angle turns, while the minimap helps track captured regions and opponent positions.
