About PassMark Fragger
PassMark Fragger creates file fragmentation and defragmentation in a controlled environment. It lets users choose settings for the test and is intended for benchmarking third-party defragmentation tools. Fragmentation divides a file’s data across locations on a drive, while defragmentation reorganizes it; testing in a controlled setup allows software behavior to be compared under selected conditions. PassMark Fragger is a benchmarking utility rather than a general-purpose drive-maintenance tool. Its role is to create test conditions for evaluating how defragmentation software performs.
