About Peace of Mind+

Peace of Mind+ is an Android app that schedules a period of disconnection by putting the phone into flight mode or, in some configurations, silent mode. The user chooses how long the quiet period should last, up to twelve hours. During flight mode, the phone disconnects from cellular communications, so email, status updates, text messages, and calls are unavailable until the period ends. The app is intended for people who want a defined interval away from incoming phone activity. The exact behavior depends on Android version and device access. The description says the app works without root access, but on Android 4.2 and later it needs root access to switch the phone into flight mode. Without that access, it switches the phone to silent mode instead. Silent mode quiets alerts but does not provide the same disconnection from network communications. The timer-based approach makes the duration explicit, while the platform limitation determines whether the phone can be disconnected or only muted.
