About PebbleRecorder
PebbleRecorder uses a button on a Pebble watch as a remote start and stop control for audio recording on an Android phone. The watch sends commands and displays recording status, including an elapsed-time counter; audio capture itself happens on the phone. Recordings are saved as AAC/M4A files in a folder chosen through Android’s folder picker. Optional location tagging can add a reverse-geocoded location line to a recording’s transcript. An optional transcription feature can send a finished recording to a cloud service using the user’s API key and save a speaker-labeled transcript alongside the audio. Both optional features are off by default, and the basic recorder works without them. PebbleRecorder requires a paired Pebble smartwatch and the matching watch app. It is intended for starting and stopping phone recordings without touching the phone, with audio stored in a user-selected folder. Users who enable transcription should understand that the recording is sent to an external service for processing.
