About phyphox

phyphox is an Android app for running physics experiments with a phone’s sensors. It offers ready-to-run experiments and direct access to sensors such as the accelerometer, magnetometer, gyroscope, light sensor, barometer, microphone, proximity sensor, GPS, and camera. Some sensors are only available on devices that include the corresponding hardware. Experiments can analyze collected measurements and export raw data and results as CSV, TSV, or Excel files for further analysis. Users can also create custom experiments by selecting sensor inputs, defining analysis steps, and designing the on-screen display. Analysis tools range from basic operations to methods such as Fourier transforms and cross-correlation. A web interface can remotely control an experiment from another device on the same network, without installing additional software there. phyphox combines classroom-ready activities with a flexible environment for creating and sharing custom experiments, making a smartphone a sensor platform for practical physics investigations.
