About Politrics
Politrics is a strategic board game played on a 9-by-9 grid, with an inner 7-by-7 playing area and special scoring and retirement squares. Each side has seventeen figures, divided into dark and light sets. Figures have different movement and capture rules, so players must plan around how their pieces can move and interact. Players can win by forming a safe line of five figures horizontally, vertically, or diagonally; by capturing the opponent’s President and scoring from their highest-value combination; or by reducing the opponent’s pieces until they can no longer form a line of five. The objective for a single board is to reach 100 points, and scores can accumulate across multiple boards to determine the overall winner. Scoring depends in part on placing pieces on colored squares worth between one and six points. The center square acts as a multiplier, making its control particularly valuable. The mix of line formation, captures, and positional scoring gives players several ways to pursue victory. Politrics is useful for players who enjoy tactical board games with multiple victory conditions and a larger grid than a traditional chessboard. Its distinctive figure movements, scoring squares, and multi-board point accumulation shape the strategy.
