About Portmaster

Portmaster is an application firewall that gives users visibility and control over network connections made by software on a computer. It can show connection activity so users can inspect which applications communicate over the network and decide how to respond. Rules can be added to block individual domains or restrict particular kinds of traffic. Users can block internet access for selected applications, control peer-to-peer connections, or restrict connections to specified countries. Portmaster also blocks advertisements and trackers across applications, extending these controls beyond a web browser. The application is intended for people who want to manage network activity centrally. Its firewall combines connection monitoring with rules that can allow or block traffic according to the user’s choices. Portmaster is free and open source.
