About Power BI ALM Toolkit
Power BI ALM Toolkit compares schemas of Power BI semantic models. It can deploy metadata changes while retaining model data, including incremental-refresh data, and can diff and merge models or repositories with checks intended to preserve metadata integrity. Users can select individual objects to reuse across models. The toolkit supports sharing common objects such as conformed dimensions, standardized date dimensions, and measures. It can also run from the command line for automation. TMDL support presents semantic-model metadata in a human-readable, YAML-like format, making model structures easier to inspect and compare. ALM Toolkit is useful for developers and administrators managing changes across semantic models. The evidence does not detail all deployment safeguards or model compatibility limits. Its established functions are schema comparison, selective deployment, diff and merge, object reuse, CLI automation, and TMDL viewing.
