About prick
prick is a self-hosted secrets manager for small teams. It stores secrets in a cloud account controlled by the organization and injects them into a process only when that process runs. The command-line client can launch a command with secrets in its environment, while a web console and an MCP server provide additional ways to manage or access the service. Secret values are encrypted with AES-256-GCM and associated cryptographically with their environment, key, and version. Identity is handled through the hosting provider's access service, with single sign-on for people and service tokens for automation. Each secret reveal is audited with a reason. The design keeps the server and database in the team's own account, but correct access configuration and account security remain important. prick is intended for teams that need controlled secret injection into development or deployment processes.
