About Rufid
Rufid turns an Android phone into a tool for writing and managing bootable USB media. It can write local ISO or IMG files to attached USB storage, stream an image from a direct link, or create a small FreeDOS drive. Before and after writing, users can inspect boot records, verify media, run read benchmarks, and back up a USB device to an Android document. It can also extract ZIP files and restore used boot media to ordinary FAT32 or exFAT storage. For Windows installer images, Rufid can create a FAT32 UEFI layout and split an install file that exceeds FAT32’s size limit, or use an NTFS data volume with an MBR or GPT UEFI:NTFS helper layout. The app does not bundle operating system images. Direct image links provide access to official download pages, while the user chooses and supplies the image. The workflow is designed for external USB mass-storage devices: select the device, inspect it, choose an image or other source, review the planned operation, then write and verify. Destructive actions require an explicit plan and confirmation, and the app shows the device and its size before proceeding. It is not intended for internal Android storage. USB recovery is a quick-wipe and format operation, not a secure erase or full-disk wipe. Compatibility with a computer depends on its USB controller and firmware. Rufid contains no advertising or analytics and keeps error reports locally.
