About runex
runex is a cross-shell abbreviation engine that expands short tokens into full commands as the user types. It supports Bash, Zsh, PowerShell, Command Prompt and Nushell, with a customizable trigger key for expansion. A shared configuration file can define abbreviations for multiple shells. Conditional rules can check whether a command exists, including shell cmdlets, aliases and user-defined functions, before expanding a token. This supports context-aware shortcuts rather than simple fixed text replacement. runex is written in Rust and designed to be fast and lightweight. It is intended for terminal users who want consistent command abbreviations across different shells. The same shortcuts can be reused across the user’s supported shells.
