About Rustup: the Rust toolchain installer
Rustup installs and manages the Rust programming-language toolchains. It lets users select among stable, beta and nightly compiler channels and keep those toolchains updated. This provides a way to work with different Rust compiler releases on the same development system. The installer can also obtain prebuilt standard-library components for common target platforms, which supports cross-compiling: building a program for a system different from the one currently being used. Rustup runs on platforms supported by Rust, including Windows. By managing compiler channels and target components, Rustup supports both everyday Rust development and work that needs to test newer compiler versions or build for another platform. It focuses on installing and switching toolchains rather than editing or compiling application code by itself.
