About SambaLite
SambaLite is an Android file manager for accessing SMB or CIFS shares on a local network. Users can create multiple named connections with a server address, share path, username, password, and optional domain. A connection test provides feedback before browsing. Files and folders can be listed, sorted by name, date, or size, and inspected for properties. The app supports downloading, uploading, deleting, and renaming files. Transfers can run in the background with progress notifications, and files can be opened through Android’s selected storage locations. Credentials are stored using the Android Keystore. SambaLite supports modern SMB2 and SMB3 servers; SMB1 is not supported. SambaLite is a file client rather than a mounted network drive, so remote folders are accessed through the app instead of appearing as a system filesystem. It is described as having no telemetry, advertising, or third-party connections. The app requests access to storage locations only when the user selects them, and is designed for direct, privacy-conscious access to network shares.
