About SatStat
SatStat is a diagnostic app that displays information reported by a phone’s GPS, sensors, and network hardware. Location details include position, speed, bearing, accuracy, satellites in view and in use, signal-to-noise ratios, time to first fix, and the time of the last fix. A map view can compare results from different location providers. The app can refresh assisted-GPS data manually or when a new data connection is detected, and can show a notification when another app accesses GPS. Sensor readings depend on the phone’s hardware and may include acceleration, gravity, rotation, magnetic field, orientation, temperature, pressure, humidity, light, and proximity. Network information can show nearby GSM, CDMA, or LTE cells and Wi-Fi networks, including signal strength and connection details. Some phones report only the cell they are currently connected to, and some GPS drivers do not honor assisted-data refresh commands. SatStat is intended for technical inspection of device-reported readings; available details vary by device and its firmware.
