About ScreenStream

ScreenStream displays an Android device’s screen in a web browser over a network. It encodes screen images as MJPEG and sends them through an HTTP connection, allowing a browser on another phone or computer to view the presentation without installing a separate client application. It is designed for demonstrations and presentations. The stream can be viewed by multiple clients, though each additional connection uses more processing and bandwidth. Wi-Fi is recommended because the image stream can use substantial data and benefits from low network delay. The phone and browser device must be able to reach each other on a network; an internet connection is not required. ScreenStream is not a real-time video-streaming tool. The description expects at least half a second to one second of delay, with more delay on slower devices or busy networks. It does not stream sound and is not designed for video playback, especially high-definition content. Some mobile networks or guest Wi-Fi networks may block connections between devices. The app uses Android’s Cast feature and requires Android 5.0 or later. It is useful for showing an Android screen in a browser during a demo, with clear limits on latency, audio, and network connectivity.
