About Search to browser

Search to browser is an Android helper that forwards system-wide search requests to the device’s default web browser. It is intended for launcher search bars that send a global search request but do not have a compatible search app available to handle it. With this helper installed, using such a search bar can open a browser search instead of leaving the request without a useful result. The described use case is a Quickstep launcher setup without Play Services, where the launcher’s search field may be present but few installed apps respond to the kind of request it sends. Search to browser acts as the handler between the launcher and browser: the launcher starts a global search intent, and the helper passes that request to the default browser. The app does not describe its own search engine, search results interface, or browser. It relies on a default browser being available and focuses on routing the launcher’s request so that the existing browser can perform the search. This makes it a narrow compatibility utility for users who want their launcher search bar to work with their preferred browser in that setup.
