About SearchBox
SearchBox is a local-first document search application that indexes folders, ZIP archives, ZIM archives, and qBittorrent downloads. It provides a web-based interface for searching across these sources, with the goal of making files and archived material easier to find from one place. ZIM archives can contain offline reference collections such as Wikipedia. The bundled search engine and indexed data remain on the local machine by default. An optional AES-256 encrypted vault is available for protected material, and the application can produce local AI summaries. SearchBox is intended for people who want to search their own documents and archives rather than rely on a hosted search service. Its sources include ordinary folders and several archive or download types.
