About searxist
searxist is an Android search app that opens a SearXNG metasearch instance in a WebView. Users can choose a public instance or add one they operate themselves. Search can be launched from Android’s system search, a search-bar widget, or the selected-text action, so queries can be sent without first opening the app manually. A SearXNG instance forwards searches to multiple search engines and returns combined results. searxist provides the mobile interface and connection to the chosen instance rather than operating the search service itself. The app uses Material You colors and supports Android 5 and later. The description says it does not collect user information and only passes queries to the configured instance. Search privacy depends on the instance being used and how it is operated. A user-managed instance provides more control, while a public instance is easier to use. searxist is intended for people who want a metasearch workflow integrated with Android’s search actions, with a choice of public or personal SearXNG servers.
