About Sepia
Sepia helps inspect and redact images before they are shared. Its X-ray view lists information embedded in a file and ranks findings by severity, including GPS details, hidden thumbnails, and trailing data that may not be visible in the displayed image. This lets users review what a picture or screenshot contains beyond its visible pixels. The editing tools can crop an image or cover selected areas with opaque ink or pixelation. On supported devices, QR codes can be detected and offered as areas to cover. When the user exports an edited image, Sepia re-encodes it from scratch, then opens its own output and shows what information remains. This extra inspection step helps verify the transformed file rather than relying only on the editing preview. Sepia processes images on the device and has no internet permission, account, analytics, or external dependencies. It requires Android 9 or later and a compatible system web view. Its tools can reduce accidental disclosure in shared images, though users still need to inspect the final export and decide whether it is suitable to send.
