About Shader Editor

Shader Editor is an Android app for writing and editing GLSL shaders and previewing them as live wallpapers. The preview can run in the background or on an additional screen. Syntax and error highlighting help users work with shader code, while an FPS display provides a view of rendering performance. Shaders can respond to device inputs exposed by the app, including hardware sensors, battery level, wallpaper offset, and multiple touches. The editor also supports use of a previous rendered frame as a backbuffer texture and importing arbitrary textures. A low-battery option can disable rendering to reduce work when power is limited. Shader Editor combines a code editor with a live rendering environment, letting users experiment with visual effects and set a finished shader as wallpaper. It is intended for people who want to create or modify shader-based visuals on a phone or tablet, with rendering and device input available for interactive designs.
