About SideDeck
SideDeck is an Android DJ app for mixing local music on two decks, either on the phone or through a compatible USB mixer. The landscape interface shows two decks with waveforms, sync, loops, BPM adjustment, and jump controls. An internal mixer provides three-band EQ, a filter, and a crossfader. Tracks can be loaded from folders on the phone or browsed and downloaded from a Subsonic-compatible music server. SideDeck analyzes tempo and musical key when tracks are loaded. The library highlights keys that work well with music already playing on a deck, helping DJs choose compatible tracks. When a supported external USB mixer is connected, Deck A and Deck B can be sent as separate stereo outputs so mixing, cueing, and equalization can be handled on the hardware. The on-screen EQ and crossfader step aside in this mode. USB host or OTG support is needed on the phone for an external mixer. The app is designed to work with the EP-136 K.O. Sidekick and describes compatibility with other mixers that accept the two separate deck outputs. The device must be set to its multi-channel USB mode, and external mixing must be enabled in SideDeck. SideDeck is free and open-source under GNU GPL v3, with no subscription, premium tier, or in-app DJ unlock. It requires Android 8.0 or newer. It suits users who want local-file DJ mixing, optional server-based music browsing, and a hardware-mixer workflow from an Android device.
