About Sigil-Ebook

Sigil is an editor for creating and modifying EPUB ebooks. It supports EPUB 2 and EPUB 3 and provides both a code view for editing the book’s structure directly and a preview view for seeing the result. Users can import EPUB or HTML files along with images and stylesheets, then adjust and package the material as an EPUB. The editor includes a table-of-contents generator with multi-level headings, a metadata editor, spell-checking dictionaries, and find-and-replace with regular expressions. Imported files can be cleaned up or reformatted, and code can be optionally prettified. Checkpoints let users compare snapshots of changes, while plugins can extend the application. Sigil supports Unicode text and runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. It is intended for people preparing ebooks for personal use or publication who need control over both the book’s content and its EPUB structure. The evidence does not enumerate plugin functionality or describe every EPUB feature supported.
