About Skrog
Skrog runs the Docker Engine on Windows through a Linux environment provided by WSL2. It exposes the engine through the named pipe already used by the Docker command-line tools, allowing compatible container workflows to continue using their existing interfaces. The engine supports tools such as Compose, development containers, container testing, buildx, and the Docker CLI without requiring those tools to be changed. Skrog runs without a graphical interface. A supervisor starts the engine at sign-in, restarts it after interruptions, and can stop it when idle to release memory. A locking command pins component revisions so a developer's computer and a continuous-integration runner can use the same engine components. Setup requires installing and starting the engine after installing Skrog itself. Its role is to provide a managed Docker Engine environment on Windows using WSL2.
