About SmartScan
SmartScan organizes photos and videos as a searchable personal knowledge base. Users can search with text or an image, combine text queries with tags, and send searches from other apps. Similar media can be grouped automatically into collections, while user-created concepts organize images by subject or idea. Concepts can use descriptions to find matching media, and image descriptions can be generated automatically or written and edited by the user. The app supports tagging with autocomplete and can detect duplicate media, allowing users to include, exclude, or show only duplicates in the library. Media, tags, collections, concepts, and descriptions are stored and processed on the device. SmartScan is offline-first, but generating image descriptions can optionally use cloud processing and requires an internet connection.
