About Snikket
Snikket is a messaging app for private groups such as families, friends, clubs, or small organizations. It supports text messaging and calls, with each group using its own Snikket server rather than a single centralized service. Users can run their own server, join one operated by someone they know, or use a hosted instance. An invitation from an existing member can help someone join a group. A Snikket server is required to use the app; there is no central service that automatically creates an account. Both the Android app and server are open source. Snikket combines familiar chat and calling with a group-based setup in which the server can be controlled by the group or its chosen host.
