About Soul Searching
Soul Searching is an Android music player for listening to locally stored music. It supports playlists and multiple play queues, folder management, search, sorting, and quick access to playback controls. Users can edit song, artist, and album information in audio-file metadata, associate more than one artist with a track, and view listening statistics by month, year, or across all time. Synchronized lyrics can be read from the audio file or an external source. The player can connect to Android Auto and offers controls for volume and playback behavior. Its appearance is customizable, with built-in color themes, light and dark modes, and a dynamic theme based on the currently playing album art. Users can also adjust which home-page tabs are visible, which tab opens at startup, and how the player behaves when swiping or minimized. The app is designed around personal music libraries and provides several ways to organize, play, and review listening. An optional self-hosted cloud feature is described as being in alpha; it is intended to make music available across desktop, web, and Android and to support shared playlists for multiple users. That feature is still experimental according to the supplied information, while the local music player is the core documented use.
