About step-desktop
step-desktop is a graphical interface for managing device identity through the step-agent daemon. It displays device identity status, managed certificate lifecycle information and onboarding flows. The application communicates with the agent through a local interprocess socket, so the agent must be installed for the desktop interface to function. This division lets the daemon handle identity operations while the GUI presents their state and setup steps. step-desktop is intended for users enrolling or maintaining devices managed by the associated platform. It provides a visual view of device identity and certificate status. The desktop functions depend on an installed and running agent on the same device.
