About StreamPlayer
StreamPlayer is an Android app for listening to live internet radio streams in the background. Playback runs through a foreground service with a persistent notification and media controls, allowing listening to continue when the screen is off or another app is open. HLS streams use adaptive buffering between eight and thirty seconds to support continuous playback. The app monitors playback and attempts to recover from network drops, restarts, device reboots, and interruptions from power-management behavior. A watchdog system can restart the player, while work scheduled in the background provides another recovery path. Users can configure auto-start after boot and automatic relaunch if the operating system stops the app. Network recovery occurs when connectivity returns. StreamPlayer is intended for radio listening that can continue unattended, including on devices with aggressive background limits. It is described as having no ads, tracking, or analytics. Actual playback depends on a working stream and an available network connection.
