About Stunnel
Stunnel adds TLS encryption to existing TCP connections by acting as a proxy between clients and servers. Because it provides the encrypted connection outside the application’s own code, older or simpler network programs can use TLS without being rewritten to implement it directly. This can protect traffic between endpoints when a secure transport layer is needed. The evidence describes it as a multi-platform tool and does not enumerate supported TLS versions, certificate settings, or deployment modes. Its role is to wrap TCP communication in an encrypted channel; both sides still need to be configured to use the proxy correctly. Its purpose is to protect TCP traffic in transit.
