About SWIG
SWIG is an interface compiler that connects programs written in C and C++ with higher-level languages. It reads declarations in C/C++ header files and generates wrapper code that allows scripting languages to access the underlying functions and data. The generated wrappers can make existing native libraries available from languages such as Perl, Python, Ruby, and Tcl. This lets developers reuse C or C++ components without manually writing every binding between the languages. SWIG automates much of the interface layer. SWIG is intended for software developers who need to expose native code to scripting languages. It takes interface declarations as input and produces wrapper code, supporting integration between compiled libraries and higher-level application code.
