About Tempus
Tempus is an Android music client for a user’s Subsonic server. It can browse and search a music library by artists, albums, genres, playlists, and decades, then stream tracks or manage playlists. It supports gapless playback and ReplayGain volume normalization when the track metadata contains the needed information. An instant-mix function builds a larger playback queue from related songs, and multiple server libraries can be shown as separate folders. The app can also play podcasts when the server supports them, and it can search for and save internet radio stations locally. An equalizer can be built in or provided by another app, and a widget keeps basic playback controls on the home screen. Optional scrobbling can send play history to compatible music-history services if supported by the server. Server-side transcoding profiles are available when the server supports transcoding. Offline mode is described as under active development and may have limitations, particularly with multiple servers. Tempus therefore depends primarily on access to a configured Subsonic server for streaming. It is open source, privacy-oriented, and available in 14 languages; the supplied evidence does not establish compatibility with every server feature.
