About textlog

textlog is a mobile client for a text-focused social platform where people publish short notes and follow others and hashtags. It provides native scrolling, a live feed, threaded conversations, profiles, hashtag pages, and server-side search. Users can browse hot and latest posts or a live stream of new writing. Threads can be nested and folded or switched to a flatter layout for easier reading on a phone. Members can post, reply, edit, delete, follow, block, and report. The client supports polls, quizzes, and checklist-style posts, and drafts are stored on the service so they can be continued from the website. Post rendering includes Markdown-style formatting, code blocks, math notation, links, spoilers, redactions, quotations, and ASCII art. Optional block formatting adds headings, lists, and tables. Notifications cover replies, mentions, and follows. Because the service has no push endpoint for this client, notifications are obtained through background polling and may not arrive instantly. The app explains this behavior rather than implying guaranteed delivery. Reading options include light, dark, sepia, and Dracula themes, accent colors, several monospace fonts, and adjustable text sizes. A minimal mode replaces icons with characters and turns off ripples and animation. textlog has no separate app account: users sign up in a browser, and the client communicates only with the textlog service. The description says it has no analytics, crash reporting, advertising identifiers, or Google Play Services. It is open-source under AGPL v3 and is intended for people who want to read and participate in the textlog community from a dedicated mobile interface.
