About TheXTech
TheXTech is a game engine for creating and running two-dimensional platform games. It continues and extends an earlier platform-engine codebase, preserving compatibility with existing levels and episodes made for that engine. It also supports creating new levels, episodes, and content packs, so the engine can be used both to play established material and to build new platforming content. The runtime is available across a range of operating systems and processor architectures, including Android, Linux, macOS, and several other desktop and embedded platforms. This broader portability contrasts with the older engine’s narrower platform support. Existing content packages can be used where they are compatible, while new content can be developed for the same level and episode format. The Android version is a runtime engine only. It requires game packages to be obtained and unpacked separately before a game can run. The supplied description does not present the engine as a game containing its own levels or story; users need compatible game assets. TheXTech is aimed at platform-game players and creators who need a portable engine that can run or extend content in this format.
