About Tideo Auto Brightness

Tideo replaces Android’s automatic brightness behavior with a user-controlled lux-to-brightness curve. Users can edit the curve in a graph, and the app can suggest a fitted curve after the user adjusts brightness across different lighting conditions. Reactivity controls define dead zones for each range, reducing changes caused by small sensor fluctuations. Smooth transitions animate brightness changes, and the app steps aside when the user moves the system brightness slider. Circadian scaling shifts the curve over the day based on local sunrise and sunset. Context rules can load profiles by foreground app, time, location, charging state, Wi-Fi network, or day of week. Five built-in profiles can be saved, overwritten, restored, or imported and exported as JSON. A live debug view shows the values and decisions the brightness pipeline is using. A Quick Settings tile, home-screen widget, foreground notification, and boot-start option provide ways to manage the service. The core feature set uses the user-grantable write-settings permission. Optional super-dimming can lower brightness below the system minimum and uses additional secure-settings permission granted manually. Location and usage access are requested only for the corresponding context rules; the accessibility service is optional and used to show an overlay, not to read screen content or consume touch input. Tideo stores data locally and has no analytics, ads, or accounts. It makes an outbound request only as an opt-in fallback for estimating the user’s city if circadian scaling is enabled and on-device location is unavailable. Users can disable that fallback. The app requires disabling Android’s built-in adaptive brightness before enabling its own service.
