About Toolport
Toolport is a local gateway that aggregates MCP servers on a computer and shares them with multiple AI clients. A server is configured once, while clients use a small set of meta-tools to discover and call the tools they need on demand. This can reduce the amount of tool-definition text loaded into a model's context. The application centralizes server profiles and credentials, storing secrets in the operating system's keychain. Tool definitions can be pinned and rechecked; a changed tool can be quarantined instead of called. Destructive calls can be configured to require human approval. Toolport runs locally, and tool traffic stays on the device unless a configured server sends it elsewhere. Toolport is intended for users who connect several AI clients to multiple local MCP servers. Its gateway, discovery, credential handling, and approval controls provide a central layer for managing those connections.
