About TTS Util
TTS Util converts text into audible speech and can also create WAV audio files. Text can be entered directly, taken from the clipboard, or loaded from a text file. Users can configure the text-to-speech engine and voice, as well as pitch and speaking rate. Additional controls can insert custom silence at line endings and after sentences, exclamations, or questions, and filters can omit selected kinds of text from the audio. A playback-on-input mode reads letters or words as they are typed. Buttons provide quick access to commonly read text, and Android’s share menu and shortcuts can send text into the app from elsewhere. These features support both listening to written material and generating a reusable audio file. TTS Util requires a separate Android text-to-speech engine; it does not provide the speech engine itself. The evidence specifies support for Android 4.0.3 and later. The voice options and speech quality therefore depend on the installed engine, while the app provides controls for choosing among its available settings.
