About Universal Installer
Universal Installer is an Android package installer for standard APK files and split-package formats. It can install APK+, APKS, XAPK, and APKM bundles, including packages that contain OBB data. Before installation, a preview shows details such as app name, icon, version, package identifier, size, target SDK, processor architectures, languages, permissions, and the number of split and OBB files. It can open package files from local storage or receive them from other apps, and it keeps download history for later management. The installer handles OBB files bundled in supported archives and can attach standalone OBB files to an APK. Copying continues as a foreground task with progress notifications, and the app can use direct file access, a companion service, or Android’s Storage Access Framework depending on what is available. Installation profiles can save and reuse flags, installer identity, and target-user settings. Users can install to selected Android profiles or to all users, and supported flags include replacing an app, allowing downgrades, granting permissions, and bypassing some low-target-SDK blocks. Silent installation is available through a companion service, root access, or device-owner mode. Each method has different requirements: the no-root companion path uses wireless debugging, while device-owner mode requires a device without signed-in accounts and supports downgrade only. The app also includes an installed-app manager with sorting, filtering, backup extraction, batch uninstall, and success or failure logs. A local-network HTTP server can share packages between the phone and a computer and is protected by a PIN. Core functions are described as available offline, with no ads or accounts. An optional security check can look up file hashes or upload unknown files to an external scanning service using the user’s own API key. Anonymous diagnostics can be disabled; the description says they do not record app or file names. Universal Installer is intended for advanced package management, and its silent-install options depend on the chosen access method and device configuration.
