About URLCheck
URLCheck intercepts links before they open and presents the URL for inspection and editing. Users can review the original link, make changes manually, and apply optional modules that check or modify it. A history module lets users inspect and reverse changes, while a log can retain checked links for later viewing, editing, copying, or deletion. Available modules include HTTP status and redirect checks, link cleanup, query-parameter inspection, pattern-based warnings and replacements, host labeling, and choosing among installed apps that can open a link. Some modules make network requests only when the user invokes them. Optional checks can query a link-scanning service or remotely expand shortened links; an offline rule set can remove common tracking parameters. Pattern rules can warn about suspicious character substitutions or suggest a secure connection scheme. Modules can be enabled, disabled, and reordered. A status check retrieves the URL and reports the response code; it does not detect redirects that depend on JavaScript. Host lists and patterns can be configured, and the app includes tools intended for developers to inspect link-opening information. URLCheck has no ads or trackers and uses internet access only for modules explicitly activated by the user. It is intended as a decision point between receiving a link and opening it, giving users a chance to inspect or clean the address first.
