About USB Gadget Tool
USB Gadget Tool configures an Android phone to present selected USB device roles to a connected host. Available gadget types include keyboard and mouse, FIDO CTAP for WebAuthn, CCID, and a UVC camera. The app can also deactivate the standard USB gadget, including MTP and ADB. The tool requires root permissions and a kernel with ConfigFS support. It enables the USB gadget role, but other apps are required to use the device endpoints. This means the app configures the phone’s USB identity; it does not itself provide all the functions of a keyboard, authentication token, or camera. USB Gadget Tool is intended for advanced device setups where Android is exposed to a USB host as a particular type of peripheral. Its behavior depends on kernel support, root access, and the additional software used with the selected gadget role.
