About VoiceWave Local Core
VoiceWave Local Core is a Windows dictation application that transcribes speech on the device and inserts the resulting text into the currently focused app. It uses local speech-recognition models through whisper.cpp, so audio is processed on the computer rather than sent to a cloud service. This makes it suitable for dictation workflows where users want the speech-to-text process to remain local. Dictation can be started with a global hotkey in push-to-talk or toggle mode. After transcription, the app inserts text into the active application. Clipboard and history fallbacks provide alternate ways to place or retrieve the result if direct insertion is unavailable. The application also verifies model files with checksums as part of its model lifecycle. VoiceWave Local Core is intended for people who want to dictate text across Windows applications. Its global controls allow it to be used without switching into a separate transcription window, and local processing keeps audio on the device. The combination of hotkey activation, text insertion, and fallback handling supports a direct speech-to-text workflow.
