About Webview Kiosk
Webview Kiosk turns an Android device into a locked-down, full-screen display for a selected web page or local content. It can run in kiosk mode, where users are prevented from returning to the home screen, opening other apps, or using the status bar. It can also act as the default launcher and start selected apps under lock-task restrictions. Settings can be protected with biometrics, device credentials, or a custom password. A URL whitelist or blacklist can restrict which web pages are available, using regular-expression rules. The app can display local images, audio, video, HTML, and PDF files in kiosk mode. Custom scripts are supported, including integrations for NFC, dark reading, and a JavaScript debugging console. Settings can be exported and imported as Base64 or JSON data. For remote or managed deployments, Webview Kiosk can receive commands and settings updates through MQTT or a decentralized push system. Fully managed devices can also receive configuration through mobile-device-management policies. These features require the relevant broker, distributor, or management setup. Optional permissions are used for web apps that need camera, microphone, location, NFC, local-network access, or notifications. Webview Kiosk is intended for digital signage, restricted browsing, information screens, and other dedicated-purpose Android displays. The product is free and open source. Its locked mode and remote management make it suitable for devices that should remain focused on a specific page or workflow, while configuration and optional hardware access depend on the deployment requirements.
