About Wi-Fi Reminders

Wi-Fi Reminders displays custom notifications when a device connects to specified Wi-Fi networks. It can also trigger reminders based on a mobile network cell ID when no Wi-Fi connection is available. This lets users attach a note or prompt to arriving at a particular wireless network or cellular area, such as a place they visit regularly. The app checks for network changes periodically, and Android’s battery-saving restrictions limit how quickly it can notice a connection. On Android 8 and later, the description says the app polls connected networks every 15 minutes. If the device connects for a shorter time, the reminder may not appear before it disconnects. Cell-based reminders can also be unreliable when the device frequently switches between nearby cells. Older versions on Android 7 and below could also trigger reminders for networks that were available but not connected, when polling was enabled. The current described workflow focuses on connected Wi-Fi and optional cell IDs. Wi-Fi Reminders is therefore useful for location-like prompts tied to network presence, but its notification timing depends on Android’s background limits and how long the device remains connected.
