About Wolf Gallery
Wolf Gallery is an Android photo and video gallery that stores media inside an encrypted vault on the device. It can be used as a primary gallery or as a separate place for files that a user wants to keep apart from an ordinary photo collection. Images and videos are organized into groups and albums, with options to rename, sort, search, and pin them. Albums can use a chosen cover image with adjustable framing. The app decrypts files when they are viewed or used. Its description also says that sharing an item with another app or setting it as wallpaper decrypts it for that action rather than saving an unencrypted copy to the gallery. Users can import and export media themselves; exporting a group produces a folder with a subfolder for each album. A built-in trash area makes deleted items recoverable. The vault uses authenticated AES-256-GCM encryption and derives key material from a passphrase using Argon2id. The description states that the passphrase is not stored and that vault access also uses the Android Keystore. Other controls include blocking screenshots and recent-app previews, slowing repeated failed unlock attempts, and an optional wipe after a chosen number of failures. An on-device self-test checks cryptography, file format, and migration behavior. Wolf Gallery works offline and does not require an account or network access according to its supplied description. Its presentation can be adjusted with themes, accent colors, grid density, thumbnail shape, and action-bar placement. These controls let the same encrypted collection be browsed in a layout suited to the user. A first-run setup wizard and multiple interface languages are also described.
