Yagni Launcher is an Android home screen launcher designed to provide familiar launcher functions with a deliberately limited feature set. It follows the “You Aren’t Gonna Need It” principle: add functionality only when it is needed, with the aim of keeping the interface focused and the application lightweight. The launcher is built from scratch with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. Yagni Launcher is in an early alpha stage, so features may be incomplete and behavior may be unstable. It is intended to provide the familiar functions of a stock Android launcher while emphasizing a small application size and low resource use. Its purpose is to offer a basic home screen experience without a large collection of extra options. Yagni Launcher is aimed at people who want a simple home screen and are comfortable using an unfinished product. Its focus is on a lean foundation that can grow only when additional capabilities are needed. The combination of familiar launcher behavior, a small footprint, and a deliberately restrained feature set defines the product’s role on an Android device.
