About Zero
Zero is an experimental programming language designed around the idea that software agents should be primary users of the language and its tools. Its goals include a small, regular syntax that can be learned from examples and compiler feedback, and a standard library broad enough to cover common needs without assembling many separate dependencies. It is an evolving project rather than a stable language for production work. The tooling is intended to expose structured information that can help with debugging and repair. This includes diagnostics, dependency or program graph facts, size reports, explanations, and proposed fix plans in forms that other tools can inspect. The development workflow also emphasizes checking, running, formatting, inspecting, and repairing programs through fast, scriptable commands. The language favors consistent patterns so tools and users can reason about code predictably. Zero is explicitly pre-1 and may make breaking changes as its language, library, and tools evolve. Its syntax and APIs are therefore experimental. The project warns that security vulnerabilities should be expected and advises against using it for production systems, sensitive data, or trusted infrastructure. It is intended for exploration in an isolated, disposable environment, where developers can try examples and assess the agent-oriented language and tooling without depending on them for critical systems.
