شطرنج is a chess app for playing, training, and managing games. Users can play offline against a built-in engine or connect for online games through supported chess services. It offers standard chess, Chess960, and an experimental Duck Chess variant, as well as tools for setting up custom positions and continuing existing online challenges. For practice, the app includes puzzles, training positions, and an opening explorer based on the ECO classification. Players can review games by navigating through their moves, save games to a local database, and search that collection by player, event, date, or result. Saved games can be edited, imported, exported, or shared, and positions can be shared separately. Additional compatible chess engines can be used through the Open Exchange Protocol when installed. The app includes accessibility support for TalkBack, with spoken information for board squares, pieces, moves, and controls. A separate Accessibility Drag mode offers an alternative way to move pieces and has adjustable timing. Users can also cast the board to a compatible television or display so others can follow the game.
