Aalener Optik-Formelrechner

About Aalener Optik-Formelrechner

Aalener Optik-Formelrechner is an Android calculator for optical formulas and lens-related computations. It supports paraxial ray tracing and exact ray tracing for an object on the optical axis, as well as calculations involving crossed oblique cylinders with an optional sphere. It can calculate refractive index and relative transmission, and determine radii for lenses designed to avoid spherical aberration or coma. The app also calculates and visualizes optical errors and lens properties, including refraction error, astigmatism, distortion, volume, weight, and dimensions for spherical toric lenses. A conversion tool handles back vertex distance, such as converting between eyeglass and contact lens values. These functions make the app useful for checking formulas and exploring how optical parameters relate to lens designs. The interface and content are in German only. The product description says the app is intended to help verify calculations and support interactive teaching. Its specialized functions are aimed at optical calculations rather than general-purpose math, and some inputs may be easier to understand for users familiar with the formulas and symbols used in ophthalmic optics.
