About AmbitSync
AmbitSync downloads activity logs, or “moves,” from a Suunto Ambit GPS watch over USB and converts them to GPX files on the Android device. It reads data directly from the watch and does not require interaction with the manufacturer’s website. To connect, the user needs the watch’s charging cable and an OTG adapter for the phone or tablet. The Android device must support USB host mode; without it, the watch cannot communicate with the app. The watch data can be converted to GPX locally, and an optional feature uploads activities to Strava. Network permission is used only for that upload, which users can choose not to perform. AmbitSync is useful for retrieving GPS activity records from a compatible watch and saving them in a common route-file format on Android. Its access to the watch is described as read-only. The product does not guarantee compatibility across all phone and watch combinations, so device support may vary. The app is focused on transfer and conversion rather than route analysis or watch configuration. Users need the required cables and USB host support, and should treat compatibility as device-dependent.
