About AudioLex
AudioLex is an offline hearing-training app for practicing recognition of spoken words. Learning mode plays a word while showing its written form, helping users connect sound and text. Exam mode hides the text until the listener rates their response; that rating determines when the word returns for another practice round, from short intervals to weeks or months. The app includes 92 words and sentences: 72 in German and 20 in English. Users can add their own recordings, transcribe them, and keep recordings from different speakers separate. Background noise can be added to make listening more challenging, with a bundled bus recording and the option to record or import WAV files. Noise level can be adjusted relative to speech, and headphone practice can target the left channel, right channel, or both. The app detects when a Bluetooth hearing aid combines stereo into mono and indicates when channel selection will not work. AudioLex has no internet permission, account, ads, or trackers. Vocabulary, ratings, and history stay on the device. Users can back up personal recordings, noise files, and session history to a ZIP archive. The interface is available in German and English, independently of the practice language. AudioLex is described as a practice tool, not a medical product or substitute for professional assessment.
