About Bibliothek-App VideLibri
Bibliothek-App VideLibri is an Android library companion for searching catalogs and keeping track of borrowed books. It can retrieve the list of loans from supported library catalog websites, show borrowed books from several library cards in one combined list, and sort them by due date, lending date, library, author, title, and other criteria. The app can notify users about approaching due dates and renew eligible loans manually or automatically before they are due. The app also keeps a history of returned books, so loan records remain available after they disappear from a library’s current account view. A search function supports complex queries over that history. Users can search library catalogs for available books and, at some libraries, reserve or order items. Support is included for multiple types of catalog systems, and custom XPath expressions can be entered to extract information from additional websites. VideLibri depends on the relevant library’s online catalog for retrieving current loans and making renewals. Its Android interface is available in English, though many supported library catalogs contain German titles and information. The app is open source. Its central purpose is to consolidate borrowing information, keep due dates visible, and simplify renewal across supported libraries.
